2026 YEA Summit
The 2026 YOUth Empowerment Action (YEA) Summit brought together youth, adult allies, and public health leaders from across New Mexico to explore how young people can shape healthier communities — both online and offline. Developed in collaboration with the New Mexico Department of Health Office of School and Adolescent Health (OSAH), the Nicotine Use Prevention and Control (NUPAC) program, and Katherine Grill Consulting, the summit focused on the theme of Positive Youth Development in a Digital Age. Youth speakers shared lived experiences and perspectives on the realities facing young people in today’s digital world. These sessions combined storytelling with public health education, helping attendees strengthen understanding of youth perspectives and connect complex health topics to real-world impact.
This is more than a summit. It is a shift toward a more collaborative model of public health — one that moves beyond designing strategies for young people and instead builds solutions with young people.
